Camborne’s Business Improvement District (BID) team is working with local businesses to help them prepare for re-opening in accordance with current public health advice. This includes sending out frequent newsletters with up-to-date guidance and actively encouraging business owners to sign up for the free online training courses on hygiene and curbing the spread of COVID-19 that are being run by the World Health Organisation. BID is also producing a poster to highlight current guidelines about social distancing, regular handwashing, face coverings, self-isolation and, when possible, avoiding the use of cash.
Following the Government’s announcement that local councils will be financially supported to manage re-opening, BID has asked Cornwall Council to install sanitiser stations in public places like car parks and in the square. It is also pressing for social distancing signage to be installed in the main streets.
The aim is for everyone who lives, works and shops in Camborne to feel confident that measures are in place to protect them, as long as they behave responsibly and abide by the rules. The town is rightly proud of its tightknit community and, whilst these are extraordinarily challenging times, most people look out for each other and support local commerce as much as they can.
The BID team is doing everything possible to help during the current crisis and, like everyone else, looks forward to healthier, less restrictive times ahead.
