Preparing for a festival of summer fun (L to R) Receptionist, Sadie Phillips, Barmaid, Jo Bird and Tyacks Hotel owner, Sam Bowen
It may not be on the scale of Glastonbury or Coachella but Tyacks Hotel has a packed line-up for its own trio of outdoor music events this summer.
It all starts on Friday, August 28th with The Unofficial Blues Brothers. Sunday, August 30th is the annual Ciderfest with six Westcountry bands playing live throughout the afternoon and evening, including headline act, Rudi’s Message – billed as the most popular band in the county. All this will be accompanied by 20 brands of cider including Cornwall’s own Rattler. Saturday, September 5th is the new Ska Mod Event, which is already attracting a lot of interest out of county and expected to draw a large crowd.
“To us, these summer festivals are like a second Trevithick Day, something to look forward to and we get capacity crowds,” said Tyacks Hotel owner, Sam Bowen. “It’s all about celebrating what this county has to offer. People tell us they love what we do so we keep doing it.”
Tyacks Hotel is known for its quality musical events, but this year will be the first time ska is featured. The idea to organise the event came from the hotel’s barmaid, Jo Bird. She explained that as Rudi’s Message, which is a ska band, is so popular it would be a good idea to dedicate an entire event to that genre of music.
She said: “We’ve already had room bookings from as far away as Birmingham and we’re expecting lots of moped riders to travel down to Cornwall and join the fun. It’s going to be very popular.”
BID Camborne Manager, Mel Martin, said: “It’s great to have events like this. It draws people into Camborne and adds to the general vibrancy and attraction of the town centre.”
