Preparations are well underway as businesses in Camborne town prepare for Christmas. The bunting that decorates the centre has been removed to make way for the lights that have become so much a part of the Christmas experience in Camborne.
Contractors have already carried out health and safety checks on the attachments and electrics for the Christmas lights display and decorations, which will be provided by BID Camborne again this year.
The BID Camborne Christmas group is also finalising plans for the annual switch-on event, which drew thousands of extra visitors to the town last year. They are also creating the Camborne Christmas Guide due out in November.
Mel Martin, BID Camborne Manager, said: “Christmas is such an important time of year for businesses. For some those few weeks can account for 40% of annual turnover so it’s essential to make the town as attractive and festive as possible to encourage customers to spend their money with businesses who invest in their town, which the BID Camborne levy paying businesses do.”
Unlike previous years, when a percentage of the cost of the Christmas decorations had been paid by Camborne Town Council, BID will be funding the entire cost of the 2016 Christmas in Camborne festivities.
