December 3rd is Small Business Saturday. It’s a time to remember your local businesses and support them.
This is the fourth annual Small Business Saturday. This year BID Camborne has organised free parking in the Rosewarne car park to encourage shoppers into the town and will be running a #ChooseCamborne this Christmas campaign on social media in the run up to Small Business Saturday.
Several Camborne businesses will be running special events to mark the day – including Cornish Oven, which is holding its annual fund-raising pasty for £1 day on December 3rd.
Small Business Saturday UK is a not-for-profit, grassroots campaign, which exists to support, inspire and promote small businesses on the first Saturday in December each year. The campaign encourages businesses to promote themselves and work with other small businesses, and consumers to ‘shop local’ and support small businesses in their communities.
Official reports show that between 50 and 70 pence from every pound spent locally goes back into the local economy, as opposed to virtually nothing spent with global brands and online retailers.
Mel Martin, BID Camborne Manager, said: “With a unique range of independent shops cafés, pubs and restaurants in Camborne, we are asking people to spend their money locally and support #ChooseCamborne this Christmas.”
