Camborne’s streets will again set the scene for a children’s bike race when the Tykes n Trikes event takes place on Sunday 23 October.
Inspired by 2022’s Tour of Britain which went through Cornwall and Camborne for the first time, Tykes n Trikes was introduced by BID Camborne, Tesco and the Tyacks Hotel as a way of enthusing local young people to get on their bikes and have fun.
Such was the event’s success that it’s back – with even more participants expected.
“We had a really good turnout last year and we’ll be running the same three races again,” said BID Camborne manager Anna Pascoe. “Everyone who enters gets a goodie bag on the day and winners also get a special prize.
“We believe it’s very important to encourage cycling as a healthy lifestyle choice. That’s why we’ve got three age categories and why we’re hopeful of an enjoyable, entertaining morning for everyone taking part.”
The Tots on Trikes race (0-5 years) sets off at 10am over a 200-metre course. Tykes on Trikes (6-10 years) starts at 1030am and Teens on Trikes (11-16) at 11am. The two older age groups cycle a 500-metre course.
Places are limited, with a maximum of 20 applicants per age category, so advanced registration is essential. Visit www.cambornetown.com/whatson for details.
